About Sip+Savor

Sip+Savor’s mission is to celebrate and uplift the local food and wine industry by supporting farmers and restaurants in the Triangle area. Sip+Savor accomplishes this goal by connecting attendees with local culinary experts and creating safe spaces for educational experiences and conversations. We dedicate this festival to the cultural diversity that makes our region special.

Sip+Savor is produced by Shannon Media, Inc. - the parent company of Heart of NC Weddings, Durham Magazine, Chapel Hill Magazine and Chatham Magazine. A portion of Sip+Savor funds will be given to local restaurants and The Carolina Theatre of Durham to fund the Arts Discovery Educational Series.

Since Sip+Savor’s launch four years ago, the food and beverage festival has moved from hosting 35-plus restaurants and 50-plus wines at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) to a virtual platform due to COVID-19. This year, Sip+Savor will continue to support local businesses by offering attendees a special at-home adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pick up my cooler?

Ticket purchase is required. On Nov. 7, 2020, attendees will visit Johnson Lexus of Durham Pre-Owned Center 1014 Southpoint Autopark Blvd, Durham, NC 27713 between noon-3pm to pick up a Johnson Lexus branded reusable cooler. Each cooler will contain the specified dishes and flight of half-bottle wines from The Oak House of Durham. Upon pick up, the dishes will be cold and we ask that you take them home and refrigerate them until you are ready to start your virtual food and wine experience.

To pick up your cooler - bring your ticket or a sign with your name on it and hold it up at your window.  We will gather your items and place them in your trunk. No contact needed! You MUST bring a photo ID to pick up your wine from The Oak House of Durham.

What will be in my cooler?

Five dishes that serve two people, including four entree dishes and one dessert course. Each dish includes a small entree to split (remember, it is five courses) and will complement a bottle of wine. The dessert course will be paired with a Carrboro Coffee Roasters paired coffee to be brewed at home.

Will each ticket offer different items?

Every World Tour flight will be the same—same wines and dishes. And, the same with the other flights. Sip + Savor is working with 20 chefs and each of those chefs will cook for one flight and offer one sharable dish.  5 chefs per flight, 4 unique wines and one unique coffee for each flight.

What if I'm a vegetarian?

Choose the Roots Flight – our vegetarian food and wine experience.

What if I'm vegan?

None of the Sip+Savor at-home meal experiences are entirely vegan.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

All of the Sip+Savor chefs will mark each dish that contains any of the following top 8 allergens: wheat, peanuts, dairy, eggs, shellfish, fish, tree nuts or soy. We cannot offer any substitutions.

Do I have to prepare my food once I get it?

Some dishes will be served cold, but attendees will need to reheat specified dishes. All dishes will come in an oven-safe dish that will need to be warmed up. Instructions on rewarming will be included with each dish.

How will I access the chef-tell-all videos and virtual wine class?

Participants can access the chef-tell-all and virtual wine class videos at sipandsavornc.com. The videos will be posted on our website the morning of Nov. 7 and will be available to access whenever participants choose to experience their flight. We recommend that attendees experience their wine flight within 24 hours of pick up to ensure maximum freshness. Each video will include a brief welcome from Durham Magazine followed by videos from our chefs and Sommelier, Ryan Vet of The Oak House in Durham.
